Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God (Romans 12:2).
Mount Olivet has a long and illustrious history. Organized in 1878, in our 133 years of existence we have had only seven pastors and each one served faithfully. Mount Olivet became a prominent and dominant actor in New York City history; within its cherished walls many of the great issues which impacted the quality of African American life were decided.
The history of the struggle for racial justice and social reform in New York City cannot be written or fully understood without knowledge of this church. It was blessed with men and women who emerged as prominent leaders in every notable endeavor.
Truly, it is a monument of a divinely guided past, and remains today a spiritually living organism, with a vast and sanctified influence for good in the kingdom of God.
Welcome to our church community. We are eager to know you, and we are excited to share with you the marvelous ways God is working in our church. If you are living in New York without a church home, we hope you will feel special here and consider becoming part of our wonderful family.

The purpose of our church is to advance the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We seek to attain this end through public worship, preaching of the Gospel, consistent Christian living, personal evangelism, missionary endeavor and Christian education.
